  • Most workouts last anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • The first 10 minutes are a Warm Up, which consists of gently and easily going through the fundamental movements in an effort to loosen and stimulate specific muscle groups utilized during the program. The goal is to raise the core body temperature and begin the increase in aerobic breathing.
  • This is followed by core training of varying levels of intensity for 15 to 20 minutes of Cardio Work: kicking, punching, bobbing and weaving, squatting, etc.
  • A three to five minute cool down, similar to the warm-up, will follow as you get a drink of water and hydrate yourself.
  • This is followed by 15 - 20 minutes of Bag Work utilizing both impact and interval training on hanging bags or partner drills with pads and mitts. These are compound movements, proven most effective for building strength, fitness and burning calories. The last 5 to 10 minutes of class are Stretch and Cool Down periods to again loosen the muscles most used during the program and to return the heart rate and body temperature to near normal conditions. You should leave feeling relaxed and invigorated.

Who Should Take A Cardio Fitness Kick Boxing Class?

Classes are primarily designed for adults, however, many teenagers can benefit as well. During the off season, student athletes may find Cardio Fitness Kick Boxing to be a great way to maintain overall conditioning. Anyone can benefit from a good overall training regimen.

Definition and Importance of Physical Fitness

Ask ten people the definition of physical fitness and you will undoubtedly get ten different responses. The core components, however, will remarkably be the same. At its simplest point, physical fitness is simply being of good physical condition - what most would call being "in shape". Physical fitness, however, is a complex issue with varying components of physiological, health-related, and skill-related measures. If you're coming to a martial arts school for the purpose of physical fitness, chances are you already have some specific goals and purposes in mind. It may be to increase endurance for an upcoming trip to hike through the Grand Canyon, to increase strength and flexibility for job related duties or sports related goals, to improve your current health condition, or it may just be that you want to be able to keep up with the kids. Whatever the reason, the end result will be directly related to the components listed above. Our classes are designed to strengthen each of these areas of fitness. Considering that most Cardio Fitness Kick Boxing participants can expect to burn an average of 350 to 450 calories per hour...well ? That's a lot of physical training.

Is Self Defense Incorporated into the Program?

It is true that, with proper guidance, one will develop strong punching and kicking abilities. The bag work included in our program will help in gauging proper distance and timing. However, while Cardio Fitness Kick Boxing may help to develop the skills and agility for self defense, realistic self defense training is on an entirely different level and is addressed separately. A free Applied Self Defense class is available to all Cardio Fitness Kick Boxing students.
