Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and form of self-defense that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan Judo which traces its roots to Japanese jujutsu. Both forms of Jiu-Jitsu promote the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themself against a bigger, stronger opponent using leverage and proper technique; by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to restrain or defeat them.
Our grappling classes consist of techniques seen throughout the disciplines of Jui-Jitsu, Wrestling and Judo which include body movements, leverage, pressure points, escapes, reversals, chokes, joint locks, throws, takedowns and submissions. We strictly follow the Gracie Combatives Curriculum as we believe it to be a strong self defense system.
