Based on the weapon teachings of Okinawa is a system that we refer to as An'Yaku Ryu Kyu Kobu Jutsu (Ancient Weapon Arts of Okinawa).
Our weapons program offers an in-depth physical and historical study of the most common of these weapons. This is a combat weapons class and is designed for students who exhibit a higher level of understanding in regards to the intricacies of technique and applications of force and control.
- Classes run from 45 minutes to 1 hour in length twice a week
- Every class is lead by a master level instructor
- An assistant black belt instructor helps with every class providing each student with personal attention
- Techniques are designed to compliment our empty hand art of BuJutsu
The study of a traditional weapons system affords insight into our empty handed arts. It helps a student better understand techniques with which they may have been struggling. Many KobuJutsu
techniques mirror those of BuJutsu and this adds value and meaning to the training. Fundamental principles such as distancing, timing, and rhythm, as well as off-balancing, locking and throwing are refined and enhanced.
